VC Visit
Industrial Visit to Star CNC (Asia) Sdn. Bhd.
On 21 March 2012, a group of 27 Manufacturing Engineering students from EPP 212 – Advanced Manufacturing Technology course, together with Dr. Khairudin and Dr. Jamaluddin visited Star CNC (Asia) Sdn. Bhd. in Perai Industrial Area. The group was welcomed by Ms. Haslina Mokhtar, an engineer at Star CNC, who is a graduate of Manufacturing Engineering with Management at USM few years ago. The Managing Director, Mr. Loh Choon Huat was also delighted to meet the group and later joined the group for a tour of their facilities which feature vast arrays of precision machining, laser cutting/marking, sheet metal forming/bending, EDM wire-cutting, stamping, turning, milling and grinding machines. It was an exciting experience for the students being able to see many latest machines and get first-hand information on the state of the art of precision engineering and CNC machining industry. The knowledge gained and the industrial exposure will complement their understanding of the subject. We thank Star CNC for their reception and thanks to School of Mechanical Engineering for supporting this educational visit.
MUROC 2012
Tahun ini merupakan tahun kedua kita menyertai dalam categori Fire Fighting Robot(FFR) dan tahun pertama dalam Rope Climbing Robot(RCR).Walaupun pasukan USM dari Kelab robotic telah menghantar 1 penyertaan utk FFR dan RCR disamping school EE dua penyertaan RCR, kita berjaya melayakan diri ke sukuakhir utk kedua team RCR dari Robotic Club.Kita terpaksa bertembung pasukan sendiri bagi melayakan ke Semifinal dan Final.Pasukan Robotic USM telah mengalahkan tuan rumah(UNIMAP) dan juara tahun lepas(Uitm) diperingkat semifinal sebelum bertembung dengan POLISAS bagi menentukan Juara tahun ini.
