EPP 351 Students Explore Semiconductor Innovation During SilTerra Educational Visit
On 18th November 2025, students from EPP 351 – Advanced Manufacturing Process, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Abdullah, participated in an educational visit to SilTerra at Kulim Hi-Tech Park. This visit, part of the course curriculum, aims to enhance students’ learning experience beyond the classroom and inspire them about the world of semiconductor manufacturing and technology.
The students and their lecturer were warmly welcomed by Ms. Shafawina from Corporate Communications and Dr. Hazmuni, Head of HR. The session began with a virtual fab tour of SilTerra, followed by inspiring career sharing by SilTerra engineers and a career talk by Dr. Hazmuni. The experience exposed students to potential career paths in the fast-evolving, high-tech semiconductor industry, where SilTerra plays a pivotal role in producing the chips, often called the “heart” of devices ranging from mobile phones and laptops to advanced biomedical sensors used in rapid DNA detection and sequencing.
This real-world exposure allowed students to better relate to and appreciate concepts taught in the classroom. The collaboration between the university and industry remains crucial in fostering teaching and research, ensuring that academic programs stay current with rapidly advancing technologies. The team looks forward to future visits to SilTerra and other industry partners.
