MOVING TOWARDS RENEWABLE AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AWARENESS AND SOLUTIONS IN BUILT ENVIRONMENT

USM SKYBELT project team under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Mohamad Yusof Idroas from School of Mechanical Engineering USM is really delighted with the delivery of two Renewable and Sustainable Energy Training Equipment to Combustion Laboratory, Science & Engineering Research Centre (SERC) USM as an effort to fulfil the modernisation of Mechanical Engineering syllabus under Erasmus+ programme. This two equipment are Solar Photovoltaic and Fuel Cell. The remaining equipment which are yet to be delivered are Organic Rankine Cycle and Air Source Heat Pump.

 

The installation, testing, and demonstration of Solar PV and Fuel Cell have been performed by the vendor (Visinergy Sdn. Bhd.) on 2nd November 2022, 10am-12pm at Combustion Laboratory, SERC USM to SKYBELT project team members, assistant engineers, and few lecturers who are involved in laboratory courses. A full training session on Solar PV and Fuel Cell will be conducted by Visinergy in December 2022, together with ORC and Air Source Heat Pump.

 

Erasmus+ is a joint programme with the aim of modernising or improving the existing syllabus of the partner universities in the selected Asian countries consisting of China (Beijing University of Technology and Lanzhou Jiatong University), Thailand (Chiang Mai University and Naresuan University) and Malaysia (Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia) which is related to Renewable and Sustainable Energy. This programme is led by eCampus, Italy with mentors from Northumbria University, UK and Cukurova University, Turkey. It is expected that the local university students will undergo a well-structured modernisation of syllabus as guided by EU on Renewable and Sustainable Energy, thus, to have a deep knowledge of the state-of-the-art and technological advances in this area as well as to fulfill the requirement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
