A DECADE OF EXCELLENCE: CELEBRATING WAVE 10 LEAN YELLOW BELT GRADUATION AND INSIGHTS FROM EXPERT WITH MR SELMAN REAL

On May 10, 2023, the School of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) held a special event at MEK2 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Lean Six Sigma program and the graduation of Wave 10 of its Lean Yellow Belt Training program. The event was launched by the Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Abdullah, who expressed his pride in the program and gratitude to all staff members, students, and alumni who have contributed to its success over the past decade.

 

The event featured a speech by the General Manager of Flex Systems Penang, Mdm. Seganayaki Shanmugam, who shared her experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles in their organization and the positive impact it has had on their business. As part of the event, Mr. Selman Real, an expert in Lean Six Sigma who serves as the Quality Control Manager at Watkins Wellness Mexico, delivered a keynote speech providing valuable insights on the relevance and impact of Lean Six Sigma in the current industry landscape. He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making to drive success in organizations and provided practical solutions to overcome challenges in implementing Lean Six Sigma.

The highlight of the event was the graduation ceremony of Wave 10 of the Lean Yellow Belt Training program. The graduates were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the program and awarded their certificates by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Abdullah and Mr. Selman Real. The graduates expressed their gratitude for the knowledge and skills gained during the program and their commitment to applying these skills to make a positive impact in their workplaces. The success of the event was due to the efforts of Dr. Amalina, Dr. Hasnida, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Chin, the entire Lean team, and the students, who worked tirelessly to ensure its success. This event was made possible with sponsorship from Coraza Systems Malaysia, Junryl Construction, Mr. Lee Tek Long, Mr. Navin Reno, Heng Wei Hardware, and Mr. Lim Wei Jian.

 

Overall, the event was a celebration of the success of the USM Lean Six Sigma program since 2013 and its impact on individuals and organizations. The event provided valuable insights from industry experts and highlighted the importance of continuous improvement and collaboration to drive success in today's fast-paced and competitive environment. The school looks forward to tackling new challenges, exploring new opportunities, and making an even greater impact in the years to come.
