NIBONG TEBAL 7 January 2023 – The Professional Diploma in Mechanical Structure Integrity and Inspection with Lean Management (PDMSI-LM) program was conducted at the School of Mechanical Engineering, USM Engineering Campus, in collaboration with Penang Port Sdn. Bhd. An instructor also the PDMSI-LM Program Director from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Ahmad Zhafran Ahmad Mazlan, along with four technical and administrative staffs and a total of 16 staffs from Penang Port covering various positions, attended the first day of this training on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

This program was held to provide 16 selected Penang Port staffs with the opportunity to take a special course for a year with instructors from the School of Mechanical Engineering, USM. The module for the first day of this training is titled Structure Vibration, Inspection, Case Study, and Reporting Method. The modules taught by each instructor will take four days to complete.

The main objective of this program is for Penang Port staffs to gain skills and knowledge on how to handle the problems with the mechanical structure in their workplace such as crane. Penang Port staffs seem to enjoy this training and were delighted that, in addition to gaining knowledge, they were able to exchange opinions with other participants.

School of Mechanical Engineering, USM would like to thank all of its staff as well as Penang Port Sdn. Bhd. for their contribution to the success of the PDMSI-LM program. Hopefully, this program will end successfully and can benefit all of the individuals involved.
