USM Teams Won 3 Tracks in the Innovate Malaysia Design Competition 2018

 

The USM Team consisting of 2 teams from the School of Mechanical Engineering and one from the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering won 3 out of the 8 design tracks in the Innovate Malaysia Design Competition 2018 held on  9 July, 2018 at the  Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Cyberjaya. The winners received a cash prize of RM 4,500  each and also several hardware and  software from the sponsors.

For the Intel track, the winning team was supervised by Professor Zaidi Mohd Ripin from the School of Mechanical Engineering and the team members are Law Khuan Foo, Dalbir Singh A/L Amrik Singh and Koh Ye Sheng. The team also won the Best Video Award based on the highest number of likes on the YouTube which entitled them to receive RM 3000 cash prize.  The winning entry is "Intelligent  Lower Limb Rehabilitation System" targeted at  augmenting  the therapy of the lower limbs of the stroke patients particularly at the sub acute stage.

The Solidworks track team was led by its advisor, Dr. Teoh Yew Heng and Dr. Yu Kok Hwa from the USM School of Mechanical Engineering, along with team members consisting of Yeo Zi Yi and Peh Ching Guan with the  winning entry of  ‘All-in-One Vehicle Emergency Tool Kit’.

For the Mathwork track, the winning team is supervised by Dr. Muhammad Nasiruddin Mahyuddin  from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the team members are Mohamad Norhafifi bin Md Hanif  and Muhammad Amirul Asyraf bin Saidin with their winning entry of " Cooperative Controlled Two Industrial Robot Arms with Real Time Fault Detection Using Robust Observer".
