Background

Norwahida Yusoff holds a Ph.D. in Fracture Mechanics from Universiti Sains Malaysia (2018), where her research focused on the quantification of crack-tip constraint loss in three-dimensional cracked bodies. Prior to that, she earned an MSc in Tissue Engineering from Universiti Malaya (2011), where she explored the mechanical stimulation of engineered cartilage and the development of bioreactors for biomedical applications. She began her academic journey with a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (2006), where she gained a foundation in biomechanics, biomaterials, and engineering design principles.

Her interdisciplinary academic background has allowed her to bridge mechanical engineering, materials science, and biomedical applications, leading to research that integrates fracture mechanics, stress analysis, finite element analysis, and biomechanics. She has contributed to studies that include bone fracture toughening mechanisms, failure assessment of nuclear components, and stress distribution in biomedical implants, combining both experimental and computational approaches to improve material performance and structural integrity. Norwahida has published in international journals and conferences, supervised postgraduate research, and collaborated on industrial consultancy projects related to failure analysis and mechanical integrity.
