Harbin Engineering University (HEU) Delegation Visits USM to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration
The School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), was honoured to welcome a delegation from Harbin Engineering University (HEU), China on 22 July 2026. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Bo Hu, Vice Dean of HEU, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chunying Wang, Assistant to the Dean, and Mr. Tongli Niu, Vice Director of the International Collaboration Office.

The visit commenced with welcoming remarks and institutional presentations by both universities, introducing their academic strengths, research capabilities, and strategic directions. This was followed by a productive discussion involving faculty members from the School of Mechanical Engineering, focusing on potential collaborations in teaching and research, academic staff and student exchange programmes, summer programs, and the organisation of international conferences.
As part of the programme, the delegation toured the Vibration Laboratory (TheVibrationLab), where they were introduced to the laboratory's advanced research facilities, ongoing projects, and available experimental equipment. The visit concluded with a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahamd Zhafran on TheVibrationLab's research activities, followed by an engaging discussion on future collaborative research opportunities. The delegation also had the opportunity to interact with USM postgraduate students, fostering academic exchange and networking.

The visit marks another significant milestone in strengthening international partnerships between USM and HEU. It is expected to pave the way for future joint research initiatives, student and staff mobility programmes, and broader academic collaboration that will benefit both institutions.
