CO₂ gasification of solid waste with PRSB
A research collaboration with PETRONAS Research Sdn. Bhd. (PRSB) was initiated in 2019 by Prof. Zainal Alimudin Zinal Allaudin and was followed by five industrial grant and consultation projects on the CO₂ gasification of solid waste, including petroleum coke, carbon black and plastic. The projects began with a laboratory-scale reactor in 2020, which was scaled up in several stages to a pilot-plant-scale CO₂/steam gasification system for hydrogen-rich syngas production in 2025. The total grant budget provided by PRSB for the five projects was RM1.86 million.
